Dr. Miguel J. Martinez Jr. is an adult and pediatric allergist. He and his staff at the Allergy and Asthma Clinic of San Antonio have been caring for patients throughout South Texas since 1997. Our clinic is located in the heart of the San Antonio medical center and we provide comprehensive care for adults and children suffering from allergies and asthma. Medications to Avoid Before your First Appointment

Your evaluation may involve skin testing for allergies.

There are medications that may interfere with the skin test and should not be taken 3 days before your appointment. 

  • A list of antihistamine medications to avoid is below.
  • Additionally, some medications for nausea, ulcers or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) may also interfere with skin testing and should be held if possible.
    • Examples include: Axid, Pepcid, Tagamet and Zantac.
  • Decongestants, steroid nasal sprays and asthma inhalers should be continued.
